An incident in Novoaltaisk involved a driverless minivan that rolled forward, executing several circles around a parking lot and then onto the adjacent road. A video of the event appeared on the Telegram channel VKurse 22, which published footage of the autonomous vehicle in action.
The clip shows a modified minivan with higher ground clearance moving across grass near a residential building, then parking cars briefly before steering onto a nearby highway where other traffic was moving. One driver managed to pass the out-of-control vehicle before it reached them, while another driver yielded to avoid a collision. A number of bystanders watched the scene unfold and recorded the minivan without any visible human operator aboard.
Eyewitnesses suggested the vehicle started moving due to the auto-start feature being activated. It is likely the owner left the vehicle in gear and the steering wheel may have turned on its own. The minibus doors remained locked during the sequence. In the recording, the vehicle is seen completing at least one and a half rotations without striking pedestrians or other cars.
Earlier reports describe a separate incident in Saint Petersburg where a driver was sprayed with pepper spray by youths who did not want to pay a fee. This unrelated event was noted in local coverage but involved different circumstances and individuals.
