Support for frontline personnel through community-led fundraising
Thermal imaging binoculars and field sights were sent to the front line as part of a coordinated effort by local residents. The initiative was funded by compassionate residents of Podolsk, with the backing of Dmitry Zharikov, head of the Podolsk district, and the charitable foundation known as the Cultural Development of Podolsk Youth, operating within the Popular Front project Everything for Victory. The August meeting, organized at the request of city residents, brought together people who wanted to assist servicemen and mobilized compatriots in a concrete, practical way.
“With the direct support of the district head Dmitry Zharikov and the collective effort of citizens and businesses, a substantial amount was raised to buy optics. Currently, plans are underway to acquire household necessities and warm clothing for the servicemen. The fundraising work will continue as long as there is need”, stated Dmitry Nikolaev, president of the Podolsk Youth Cultural Development Charitable Foundation. Representatives of the Popular Front personally delivered the supplies to the frontline positions, ensuring the aid reached its destination promptly.
“These technical assets will contribute not only to protecting the life and health of the soldiers but also to bringing the shared objective of victory closer”, added Sergei Koshkarev, coordinator of the Popular Front project Everything for Victory. In response, the fighters released a thank-you video expressing gratitude to all who participated in the fundraising drive.
In related news, the community was invited to participate in a separate initiative titled Behind the Wheel, a Grand Prix-style voting event designed to highlight the best new cars of the year. Participants were encouraged to share their views through the survey, with a playful incentive offered as a token of appreciation for time spent on the questionnaire. As the campaign progressed, a small prize draw was announced for those who completed the survey by a stated deadline. The organizers emphasized that the intent was to engage the public in a lighthearted, community-oriented activity that complemented the broader support efforts for frontline personnel.
The 2023 Driving Grand Prix questionnaire was featured prominently as the entry point for participation, inviting residents to weigh in on the latest automotive novelties while contributing to the ongoing community spirit that supports servicemen and their families.
