The usual method to move vehicles across regions is through car carriers. For individuals, this service comes at a notable price. Driving yourself is possible, but it can take over a week to cover the distance from Vladivostok to Moscow.
With rising demand for cars from the Middle Kingdom and the growing availability of Japan-imported vehicles, Russian Railways tested a new option by adding car transport to the Vladivostok to Moscow passenger service as an experiment.
Four-wheeled vehicles can be loaded up to four per car transporter, or up to eight motorcycles. The carriage is equipped with lighting, fire alarms, and burglar alarms to ensure safety during transit. The estimated time for delivery to Moscow is eight days. Costs depend on the vehicle’s brand and weight, starting from 85,000 rubles for cars up to 1,050 kilograms, 112,000 rubles for cars up to 1,500 kilograms, and from 150,000 rubles for heavier vehicles.
Four trips were scheduled for March. If demand remains strong, this service could become a regular offering.
