The latest model from the Chinese automaker BYD is a new crossover named Corvette 07. In appearance, it echoes the design language of the BYD Tang, offering a bold silhouette and a modern, aerodynamic profile.
Measured dimensions place the Corvette 07 at 4.82 meters in length, 1.92 meters in width, and 1.75 meters in height. Its wheelbase stands out at 2.82 meters, a figure that translates to a notably roomy cabin and comfortable rear seating for adult passengers.
The propulsion system is planned as a hybrid, according to reports from Chinese automotive outlets. The base configuration centers on a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine delivering around 139 horsepower, paired with an electric drive system to provide improved efficiency and acceleration. This combination aligns with BYD’s broader strategy of hybrid efficiency paired with strong on-demand power.
In the entry hybrid setup, the Corvette 07 uses a single electric motor on the front axle capable of approximately 197 horsepower, contributing to a balanced power output and smooth city driving dynamics.
For performance-oriented buyers, the top configuration scales up to two electric motors. A second motor on the rear axle adds about 204 horsepower, creating a combined hybrid output near 540 horsepower. This setup promises strong off-the-line punch and confident highway cruising, while still leveraging the electric torque for quick bursts and refined daily operation.
The crossover is progressing toward production, with manufacturing anticipated to begin in the near future. Despite the high power and the potential for broad manufacturability, BYD is signaling a relatively affordable price point for the Corvette 07. In the Chinese market, the model with roughly 197 horsepower is expected to carry a price around 250,000 yuan, a figure that translates to roughly 2.1 million rubles at current exchange rates. Prospective buyers in other markets may see similar value structures as BYD expands its hybrid lineup globally, including North America and parts of Canada and the United States where demand for electrified crossover options remains strong.
