In remarks about traffic movements on the Crimean Bridge, Yuriy Gotsanyuk, the head of Crimea’s Council of Ministers, indicated that heavy trucks would resume crossing the bridge no earlier than March 2023. While truck transit remains restricted, traffic is rerouted via alternative routes and a nearby ferry link.
Speaking on Millet TV, the official stated that by spring, specifically in March, maintenance and safety measures would be completed to reestablish heavy truck passage over the Crimean Bridge.
Until that time, the bridge is open to passenger vehicles only, including cars and buses carrying passengers.
Daily, roughly 600 to 700 vehicles utilize the ferry service adjacent to the Crimean Bridge area, providing an essential cross-channel link for travelers and commerce in the interim.
It is important to note that truck passage across the Crimean Bridge was officially halted starting December 11, 2022. The restriction applied to vehicles with a payload heavier than 1.5 tonnes due to concerns over potential threats to the structure and the need to prevent disruptions following the October 8 attack incident.
