Many Russian drivers believe that mixing brake fluids can cause a car to break down, but this is not correct. Auto expert Alexey Revin of Za Rulem explained that the idea isn’t supported by evidence.

He noted that the modern practice in brake fluids is more forgiving. Fluids that share the same base—such as DOT 3, DOT 4, and DOT 5.1—can be mixed in most situations without harming the braking system. Still, enthusiasts should avoid unnecessary changes once a newer, higher-grade fluid is already in use. In practice, most modern fluids are designed to be compatible with older formulations, reducing the risk of incompatibility when a small amount of a different grade is added.

The expert added that DOT 3 is not ideal for very cold climates or high-altitude driving. In those conditions, choosing a fluid with a higher temperature rating is prudent, especially for high-speed driving and hot, mountainous terrain where brake demand is intense.

He also emphasized that silicone-based DOT 5 fluids should never be mixed with other fluid types.

Earlier guidance highlighted the five main mistakes when replacing a windshield. Experts point out that many drivers try to delay the replacement by drilling or delaying until the windshield cracks. Yet a windshield should be replaced not only after visible damage but also when wear reduces the seal and glue integrity over time.

Drivers are warned against sliding cheap windshields into place, as these can reduce visibility and increase the risk of accidents. It is also important to hire a qualified technician for proper installation; a sloppy job can lead to additional, more expensive repairs later on.

There is also ongoing discussion about how to avoid fines related to vehicle tuning. Authorities advise drivers to follow local regulations and seek professional guidance to stay compliant while making lawful enhancements to their vehicles.
