BMW showcased the factory armored version of the 7 Series executive sedan alongside the electric i7 variant. The integrated armored system is designed to shield occupants from firearm and explosive threats, meeting protection class VR9 and capable of withstanding 7.62 caliber rounds with steel-core bullets.

The protected BMW 7 features a body structure built entirely from armored steel, with three‑dimensional components formed through hot pressing. The BMW Protection Core concept enables the creation of a protective capsule that includes reinforced doors, an armored floor, and bulletproof glass, delivering a secure cabin without compromising overall vehicle balance.

Engineers aimed to minimize the visual and functional gap between the armored model and the standard sedan. The petrol version is equipped with a 4.4‑liter turbocharged engine delivering about 530 horsepower, while the i7 remains powered by two electric motors producing approximately 544 horsepower, ensuring strong performance even in armored configurations.

In dedicated development programs, BMW has focused on preserving ride quality, safety, and usability for daily operations while maintaining the highest levels of protection. The armored 7 Series blends advanced safety technologies with refined luxury components, enabling a comfortable ride for occupants in high-threat environments without sacrificing the brand’s characteristic driving dynamics.

Historically, Opel had introduced a new concept in related showcases, highlighting how major European manufacturers continually explore advanced propulsion, safety, and materials science. These announcements underscore the ongoing evolution of executive mobility in both traditional internal combustion and electric powertrain segments, reflecting a broader industry trend toward high-protection vehicles that do not compromise on luxury or performance.
