Progress Update on BMP-3 and BMD-4M Upgrades and User Feedback Initiatives

Rostec subsidiaries have completed further enhancements to the BMP-3 and the BMD-4M armored fighting vehicles. The updates bring new protective features against cumulative ammunition, a key capability during active hostilities. The latest configurations are delivered to units in a modernized form, reflecting ongoing field input that guides improvements to boost performance under real combat conditions, as Rostec explains.

Officials noted that the standard equipment for the BMP-3 and BMD-4M now includes additional protection kits, such as grille screens. These protective elements have been brought into production at the manufacturing facility, ensuring consistent supply and integration with existing systems, according to Piotr Tyukov, the executive director at Kurganmashzavod.

Tyukov emphasized that the company actively incorporates feedback from the military personnel operating these vehicles. This practical input drives improvements in each new batch of equipment sent to troops, ensuring that armor and defensive measures align with frontline needs and evolving threat scenarios.

In terms of ongoing commitments, Rostec reports that all contracts for 2022 were completed on schedule. The total delivery of BMP-3 vehicles, BTR-MDM units, and BREM-L repair and recovery vehicles to the armed forces has been achieved, with repair obligations fulfilled as planned. Rostec also noted that assembly and overhaul work for military vehicles under 2023 contracts has already commenced, underscoring a continued cycle of readiness and modernization.

In another vein, a public engagement initiative invites readers to participate in the Behind the Wheel Grand Prix. The goal is to help identify the most notable car innovations of the year. Participants are asked to vote on standout models and features, sharing their perspectives on what makes for strong automotive design and performance in the current market landscape.

A token of appreciation is offered to survey participants: a chance to win one of three frets. Eligible entries are those who complete the questionnaire prior to the stated deadline, with eligibility details clarified within the survey materials.

Completing the 2023 Driving Grand Prix questionnaire provides respondents with an opportunity to reflect on their experiences with recent car releases and to share firsthand impressions of how new technologies translate to real-world driving. The initiative highlights a broader trend toward consumer involvement in evaluating and ranking automotive innovations, a trend that continues to shape product development and communications from manufacturers and partners alike.
