Electronic warfare (EW) and drone-detection devices are set to be installed on passenger buses in the Belgorod region, a move confirmed by regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov in his Telegram channel. The goal is to enhance safety and monitoring along border areas by equipping public transport with gear capable of identifying drone activity and mitigating electronic threats. The program will target buses and other municipal vehicles that perform social tasks, ensuring that essential services keep operating under heightened vigilance.
Gladkov explained that the EW systems and drone detectors will be deployed first in the Shebekinsky District and across the Belgorod region. He noted that these devices were supplied through support channels connected with the Popular Front, and that another batch is expected to arrive soon to expand the coverage. The initiative reflects a broader strategy to protect civilian infrastructure and maintain secure mobility for residents and visitors in frontier zones.
In related safety developments, an incident earlier this week involved a collision between a Toyota and a Gazelle minibus, which resulted in several injuries, including two people in Saratov who required hospitalization and resuscitation services. Emergency teams responded to the scene and provided urgent care as the situation was assessed.
Separately, authorities reported a separate technical fault involving BMW vehicles that led to a fire.
