The Belgorod governor Vyacheslav Gladkov has added a Buran armored vehicle to his fleet. The information comes from a regional media channel and has drawn notable attention in nearby communities.
The armored car stands apart from the standard model by offering more seating capacity. Instead of the usual six seats, this version accommodates ten occupants. The development first appeared in 2017, and the model is built atop the GAZ-3308 Sadko platform. Enhancements include a reinforced frame and upgraded suspension, practices that help the vehicle traverse challenging terrain with greater ease. Onboard technology features cameras and a monitor, supporting situational awareness for crews in demanding environments. Under the hood lies a 4.4-liter turbodiesel engine delivering around 147 horsepower, paired with a five-speed manual transmission. The price tag for this machine sits at approximately 17.5 million rubles.
On his official VKontakte page, Gladkov explained that the armored vehicle is intended for use in border areas that frequently come under bombardment. The vehicle is planned to transport rescuers and medical personnel working in those zones. In addition to the armored car, body armor and helmets were also procured to strengthen personal protection for the teams operating in the field.
Earlier reports described a separate incident in which an individual assaulted the car with his ex-spouse and subsequently took his own life. A criminal investigation has been opened to examine the circumstances surrounding that event and to determine the full sequence of actions involved.
