At the exhibition “ITS for regions” a new adaptation of a photo and video traffic enforcement system, named Azimut 4, was unveiled. The display highlighted how this updated complex is shaping up for real road deployments, with initial installations planned in the Leningrad and Tomsk regions. The project is developed by Road Safety Technologies, a subsidiary of the Urban Tech Group, which has spent twenty five years refining road safety technology and equipment. The reveal underscored the company’s long standing commitment to improving traffic law enforcement through robust, field ready solutions that integrate advanced imaging with smart data processing.
What sets Azimut 4 apart is its strong localization capability. The system is designed to be deployed with minimal friction across regional networks and can independently recognize twenty three categories of traffic violations by leveraging neural network based data processing. The technology is capable of filtering complex scenes to identify relevant infractions and assets from traffic footage. Real world examples include cameras that can detect when a driver fails to wear a seat belt, uses a mobile phone while operating a vehicle, identifies the type of goods being transported, recognizes the vehicle make, and even discerns the color of the car. Each capability is framed to support authorities in ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards while maintaining high accuracy in varied conditions.
Azimut 4 is designed to reduce road incidents by expanding the analytical reach of regional photo and video recording systems. The solution is part of GC Urban Tech’s broader portfolio, aligning with strategic goals to enhance traffic safety through integrated technology. The deployment process is streamlined; once installed, the equipment can be configured and operated remotely, minimizing on site maintenance efforts. The hardware itself is housed in a rugged metal monobloc that protects the sensitive components from environmental exposure and tampering risks, ensuring consistent performance across different climates and terrains.
Dmitry Sichikov, the CEO of Road Safety Technologies, commented on the evolution of the Azimut 4 platform. He noted that the latest modification brings refinements across several previously used features of other traffic video systems. The device was certified in September 2022 and has moved into mass production, reflecting a growing demand for reliable, domestically developed solutions. A key point emphasized by Sichikov is the emphasis on localization: suppliers are carefully chosen with a preference for domestic contractors, supporting local industry ecosystems. He also highlighted that the software stack is entirely developed in house by the company, with the full production pipeline located in Perm, including the development, PCB assembly, and machining departments. This consolidation aims to shorten development cycles, improve quality control, and ensure tighter integration between hardware and software components, enabling a faster path from concept to field deployment.
