AvtoVAZ has announced that production of the Lada Largus station wagon and van will restart toward the end of next week. The company released the information through its press service on July 20.
The announcement notes that welding and painting of the Largus bodies have already begun, and ready-to-use commercial vehicles are expected to roll off the line in Togliatti within a few days.
Still, the press service stressed that the restart does not signal a return to full, continuous output for the Largus. For now, the plan covers a limited batch of 1800 units, reflecting a constrained warehouse stock of scarce components. In practical terms, this batch will be built in the pre-crisis trim levels that customers previously saw.
At present, AvtoVAZ is maintaining steady production of only two model families: the Granta passenger cars and the Niva Legend SUV. Both lines have been revived in simplified anti-sanction variants that use engines certified for Euro-2 emissions, and they lack ABS, airbags, and the ERA-GLONASS SOS system.
Details about the timing for the next Largus delivery to dealer networks will be provided separately. Moving forward, AvtoVAZ has pledged to return to regular production of the model as supply conditions improve.
The last Largus production at AvtoVAZ occurred at the end of April, when a small batch was produced after a prolonged hiatus that began in late February.
AvtoVAZ continues to face a pressing shortage of critical foreign components due to tightened Western sanctions.
