Denis Manturov, head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade in Russia, stated that AvtoVAZ plans to begin assembling the refreshed Lada Granta by the end of 2024, a forecast reported by RIA News. The plan signals a deliberate push to update a long-running model line and refresh the brand’s compact segment offering for the domestic market. The timeline reflects a broader strategy to renew key models while keeping production lines active at the Tolyatti facilities.

In remarks made during a ceremony that marked the resumption of production for the updated Lada Vesta at the same Togliatti site, Manturov reiterated that the updated Granta would reach the market by late next year. This expansion of the Lada lineup aligns with AvtoVAZs ongoing efforts to modernize its product slate and improve safety, efficiency, and contemporary design language across its popular segments.

Earlier, in September of the previous year, Manturov had outlined plans for a new B-segment Lada family that is slated to debut by the end of 2024, with a crossover built on the Vesta platform expected to begin production in 2025. This approach demonstrates AvtoVAZs long-term product roadmap, balancing fresh compact options with existing models to maintain volume and competitiveness in a challenging market.

At AvtoVAZs scientific and technical center, engineers reported the creation of 25 prototype vehicles representing the new Granta B family. These prototypes underwent a series of tests, including safety assessments, to validate design choices and performance targets before entering any larger scale manufacturing phase. Maxim Sokolov, the companys head, confirmed ongoing testing and evaluation while noting the brands historical commitment to producing the Lada Granta family since 2011.

Earlier disclosures indicated that AvtoVAZ had begun updating production of the Lada Vesta at the Togliatti plant, with the refreshed model anticipated to go on sale in the near term, following a carefully staged rollout that aligns with plant readiness and market demand. The balancing act between updating current models and introducing new ones underscores AvtoVAZs strategy to maintain production momentum while delivering improvements in technology, safety, and everyday usability for Canadian and American customers who follow Russian automotive developments with interest.
