Russia’s AvtoVAZ has moved forward with the production cycle of the Lada Vesta, incorporating a gas filler cap locking mechanism. Information circulating publicly on the VKontakte platform via Avtograd News confirms that this feature is back in the lineup alongside ongoing production updates.
According to the report, the gas tank cap locking function has been reinstated on Vesta models. These vehicles are reportedly rolling off the line in small batches and are finished with a distinctive Borneo metallized enamel. This color option adds a premium look to the refreshed assembly, signaling a deliberate effort to refresh the model’s appeal on the market.
The return of the locking cap feature is presented as a protective measure, aiming to deter fuel drain and improve security for owners, a concern that has influenced model revisions in various regional markets.
In a related line of updates, AvtoVAZ has also restarted the installation of cruise control on Lada Vesta units. This feature is being offered on vehicles that already include a basic specification version, broadening the comfort and convenience suite for buyers.
The cruise control system, often described as a “Speed Control” option, is designed to help maintain a steady vehicle speed without continuous accelerator input. In tandem, a “Speed Limiter” function can automatically restrict the maximum speed according to the driver’s predefined setting, contributing to safer highway driving and reduced fatigue on longer trips.
Additionally, industry chatter noted a separate development: the anticipated launch of the GAC GS3 crossover in the Russian market. Market observers expect sales to commence in May, marking another notable entry on the domestic automotive stage and signaling continued competition among compact crossovers in the region.
