The leadership of AvtoVAZ, headed by Maxim Sokolov, has revealed that discussions are underway about the potential joint production of C- and D-class vehicles with partners from friendly nations. He conveyed this during an interview with Forbes.

Additionally, Sokolov clarified that AvtoVAZ is not pursuing a joint stock partnership at this time. He noted Renault’s option to repurchase its shares within a six-year window, which affects strategic options and negotiations. The executive also stated that while discussions about future partners are ongoing, there are no finalized agreements to disclose yet.

In another strategic thread, AvtoVAZ has been examining new export opportunities for its Lada lineup. The focus is on expanding into select African markets, where demand for affordable, reliable vehicles could align with the company’s production capabilities. The top executive indicated that, for 2023, the automaker aims to export roughly 20,000 Lada units, highlighting a clear ambition to diversify markets and increase international presence.

Separately, Najafi Manesh, who chairs the Iranian Parts Manufacturing Association, indicated late in the year that Iranian authorities are seeking to reach a framework with AvtoVAZ for potential joint car production. While such talks reflect broader regional collaboration interests, no binding agreement had been announced publicly at that time.
