AvtoVAZ Expands Lada Granta Palette with Dark Gray and Golden Brown Finishes
AvtoVAZ has begun coating Lada Granta models in two new hues, dark gray and a warm golden brown described as “Borneo” and “Coriander.” The information comes from the brand’s press service and has been reported by RIA Novosti.
The two colors are noted by the manufacturer as technically intricate. Before these shades were introduced, the entire process of painting the vehicle bodies was recalibrated to accommodate materials from new suppliers, according to the official statement. In practical terms, this meant a fresh approach to primers, coatings, and curing cycles, ensuring the new metallized enamel adheres well and maintains color integrity under various operating conditions.
Dealers across Russia have already begun accepting orders for cars finished in these new colors. Customers should anticipate an additional charge for the metallized enamel, set at 15 thousand rubles. This pricing reflects the premium associated with the updated finish and the investment required to integrate the new materials into production lines.
Earlier information indicated that AvtoVAZ offered four Lada models under one million rubles. With the addition of the new color options, budget-conscious buyers in the primary market can still opt for the classic SUV Lada Niva Legend, the Granta sedan and liftback, and the Granta Cross. It should be noted that the Niva Travel equipped with the Granta Drive Active configuration—available as a sedan or liftback—appeared in January 2023 with a price point under one million rubles, though prices have risen throughout the year as market conditions evolved.
There have also been updates about other models in the lineup. Reports noted that the Lada X-Cross 5, a variant in development and distribution, began arriving at Russian dealerships, signaling continued diversification of the brand’s portfolio for broader consumer demand and evolving price expectations in the domestic market.
From a broader perspective, AvtoVAZ’s color expansion and the recalibration of body painting processes fit within a wider strategy of refreshing the Lada lineup while keeping affordability in view for a significant portion of buyers. The automaker appears to be balancing new aesthetic options with market realities, including exchange rates, supplier changes, and the ongoing need to manage production costs without compromising value for money. Consumers in Canada and the United States can monitor official announcements through the brand’s communications channels for any comparable color offerings or regional variations that may reflect similar production adjustments or pricing considerations.
