AvtoVAZ is expanding its color palette and will begin painting its mainstream models in brown and blue later this year, according to statements cited by RIA Novosti from the carmaker’s president, Maxim Sokolov.
“Yes, we are introducing several additional shades to our lineup this year. For example, coriander and blue will appear on certain models,” Sokolov noted during the briefing.
According to the company’s official press service, the Lada Vesta, Granta, and Niva families will receive these new finishes as part of the ongoing refresh of AvtoVAZ’s color options.
Earlier remarks suggested that AvtoVAZ plans to launch a new brand in the spring, with St. Petersburg serving as the production hub for these projects. Sokolov indicated that the factory in the northern capital will handle manufacturing for this upcoming initiative.
News from January 2024 confirmed AvtoVAZ’s strategy to introduce vehicles under a separate brand identity. The plan envisions foreign-made models in the C and D segments being offered under the new brand umbrella, though specifics about potential partner companies remained undisclosed at that time.
Additionally, Lada X-Cross 5 models had already begun arriving at Russian dealerships, signaling an ongoing push to diversify the brand’s offerings and appeal to a broader segment of buyers.
Market observers and industry insiders have noted that color updates and brand diversification often accompany broader product refresh cycles. The move to widen the color spectrum—along with the introduction of a separate brand—aligns with a strategy aimed at maintaining consumer interest and expanding AvtoVAZ’s footprint in a competitive domestic market. Analysts also point to consumer preferences for distinctive exterior hues as a lever for brand differentiation, particularly in segments where design and perception influence purchase decisions as much as performance and price. Such shifts typically follow research into local tastes and color psychology, and they often precede targeted marketing campaigns that showcase new finishes in lifestyle-oriented scenarios. This approach can help the company attract new customers while simultaneously reinforcing loyalty among existing buyers. The practical implications extend to dealer networks, after-sales services, and financing options, all of which must adapt to the evolving lineup and branding framework. Consumers may find the coriander and blue options particularly appealing for their bold yet versatile appearance, suitable for urban driving and weekend excursions alike. In any case, the upcoming changes underscore AvtoVAZ’s intent to stay relevant amid changing tastes and regulatory dynamics in Russia’s automotive scene, while still preserving a connection to the Lada identity that has defined the brand for decades. The company’s ongoing announcements suggest a phased rollout, with color and branding updates introduced progressively across its most popular models.
