AVTOVAZ is currently weighing a possible production reduction for 2023, with discussions suggesting a drop from 500,000 vehicles to just over 400,000. The information comes from the Atypical AvtoVAZ VKontakte community, which has signaled that the anticipated decrease could be under 15 percent. This potential change would be driven by supplier reluctance to fulfill the previously announced production schedule, creating a need to reassess output plans in the near term.

Should the production volume decline indeed occur, AVTOVAZ would need to adjust its work calendar for the coming year. The plant is planning to revert to a standard five-day workweek. At present, operations run on a six-day regime, extending from Monday through Saturday and granting workers a midweek day off. The shift to a five-day structure would represent a return to a more conventional pattern for the workforce and could influence overtime, shift rotations, and overall labor planning across the facility.

In addition to changes in the workweek, AVTOVAZ intends to modify the companywide vacation schedule for 2023. The plan calls for three separate weeks of collective vacation for all factory personnel, carefully balancing the remaining seven days between the May holiday period and the lead up to the New Year holidays. This adjustment aims to optimize plant downtime while maintaining sufficient staffing levels for critical production windows and ensuring orderly maintenance cycles across the site.

Recruitment strategies are also under review. Previous plans projected an expansion of the Togliatti workforce by 4,000 positions by the end of 2023. The evolving production outlook, supplier constraints, and broader market conditions are now informing a more cautious approach to hiring, with a focus on aligning staffing with realized output and ensuring workforce stability as the company navigates potential reductions in activity. The overall staffing plan remains subject to revision as supplier performance, logistics, and demand signals become clearer, and management continues to align human resources with the updated production roadmap.
