AvtoVAZ Announces Three New Projects and Updates to Existing Programs

AvtoVAZ plans to organize three new initiatives: a family of cars built on a new platform, cars powered by alternative energy sources, and a program focused on small cars with additional equipment. This information comes from the public VKontakte page of Atypical AVTOVAZ.

The project on cars powered by alternative energy sources has primarily targeted the e-Largus, which is slated for production in Izhevsk. The company is positioning this line as a step toward broader electrification and cleaner propulsion options for its lineup.

Within the small cars and additional equipment initiative, several programs are included, such as sport-oriented variants, compressed natural gas (CNG) configurations, adaptations for people with disabilities, and training vehicles for educational or demonstration purposes.

Details about the family of cars on a new platform remain undecided. At this stage, no official specifications have been announced, and project scope is expected to crystallize through internal planning and external market feedback.

Several current programs have been revised or renamed to reflect strategic shifts. For instance, what was once the Cars on the Lada-B/C platform is now referred to as the Vesta Car Family. Likewise, the Lada 2190 and Lada Kalina Car Family are now labeled the Granta Car Family, and Lada 4×4 has been incorporated into the Niva and Largus Car Family group. These renamings signal a consolidating approach to branding across model families. The XRAY Car Family project was not included in the company’s consolidated plans. Previously, AvtoVAZ leadership explained the rationale behind discontinuing this model, citing alignment with product strategy and resource allocation. This ongoing review illustrates the company’s focus on streamlining its portfolio while pursuing modernization and market responsiveness.
