AVTOVAZ announced its plan to restart the former Nissan production site in St. Petersburg and indicated consideration for an electric model manufactured at that facility. The project ultimately identified is the e-NEVA venture, signaling a shift toward electrified famil y crossovers for the company.
e-NEVA is a compact, four-and-a-half-meter family crossover developed under the oversight of the defense conglomerate Almaz-Antey as part of its post-war conversion ambitions. The vehicle made its debut in 2022, showcasing a practical footprint with a ground clearance of 190 millimeters and a trunk capacity of 610 liters, positions that appeal to everyday family use and weekend getaways alike.
Current specifications indicate an estimated driving range of 463 kilometers on a full charge, with a top speed around 197 kilometers per hour and an acceleration figure to 60 kilometers per hour of roughly 2.7 seconds. An anticipated power reserve for the vehicle, under certain conditions, is cited as 810 kilometers. These numbers place the e-NEVA in the middle of the compact electric crossover segment, emphasizing efficiency and performance for urban-to-suburban travel while offering comfortable highway capability.
AVTOVAZ has signaled its intention to revive the Nissan plant within the year, with a phased plan that starts with the assembly of conventional gasoline vehicles in the C and D classes, pursued in collaboration with Chinese manufacturing partners. This two-track approach aims to reestablish production capacity rapidly while positioning the facility for broader electrified offerings as demand evolves and supplier ecosystems mature.
