In the fall, motorists are advised to inspect and replace windshield wiper blades, according to Avtopribor expert Alena Vlasova.
“The season shift makes autumn the right time for maintenance. Even though summer may be dry, blades suffer wear from sun exposure and dust, which diminishes their performance,” she explained.
Vlasova noted that as days shorten and rain increases, worn wipers can seriously reduce visibility and raise safety concerns on the road. Common indicators of worn blades include streaks of water left on the glass, missed spots on the windshield, squeaks, and thumping noises during operation. In some cases, blades may become warped and fail to seal properly against the glass.
Experts recommend following the vehicle manufacturer’s guidelines when selecting replacement blades.
“Avoid installing blades that are too long or too wide for the adapter, as they can strike the vehicle body or collide with one another. It is also unwise to use blades on a windshield that is heavily dirty, or to try wiping away engine fluids with them,” Vlasova added.
