The project led by the DSTU Robotics Resource Center and the Research Laboratory “Intelligent Electric Agricultural Machinery and Complexes” (NIL “IESMiK”) is moving toward a high level of automated capability. Drawing on SAE standards, the team aims for the fourth level of autonomy while making only minimal modifications to a production car. The initiative emphasizes practical integration, ensuring that autonomous features work harmoniously with existing vehicle systems rather than requiring a complete rebuild. This approach highlights a path to scalable automation that can fit into current manufacturing ecosystems without sacrificing reliability or safety.

The ongoing developments hold promise for enhancing car security systems, improving driver assistance functions, and enabling advanced training platforms for people with disabilities. By focusing on accessible interfaces and robust sensing, the work seeks to create more inclusive mobility solutions. Initial testing has already taken place in Nizhny Novgorod, where the team validated core autonomous functions in controlled conditions. The next major milestone involves formalizing collaboration with AVTOVAZ, a key step toward integrating the technology into broader production programs. This cooperation would support the transition from prototype to real-world deployment, aligning research goals with industry needs and regulatory expectations. As the partnership progresses, the project is positioned to contribute to Russia’s automotive innovation ecosystem by offering modular, safety-conscious autonomy solutions that can be adapted across vehicle platforms.
