Authorities in Moscow uncover weapons and explosives during vehicle search

Authorities in Moscow reported the discovery of weapons and explosives during a search of a suspect vehicle, following an on-site inspection prompted by observed signs of unease from the driver. The incident began when police stopped a Skoda Superb on Shlyuzovaya Embankment to verify documents. The driver, a 47-year-old Moldovan national identified as Gaine Vitalie Ion, appeared visibly anxious, triggering a more meticulous check of the car. In the pocket of the front passenger seat, investigators found a weapon that resembled a Walter gas gun, along with seven rounds of ammunition. The back seat armrest contained a TT pistol and eight additional rounds, while explosive devices were found near the left front door. Additional items seized included two knives, handcuffs, masks, notepads, and three mobile phones. The suspect was detained as the weapons and ammunition were sent to the authorities for examination. The Walter gun was confirmed to be a gas pistol, while the TT firearm was classified as a combat pistol. Investigators continued to work with the foreign national to determine the intent behind the possession of these items and any possible connections to broader criminal activity.
