The government agency’s press service confirmed the development, highlighting a vehicle purposefully crafted to deliver urgent care under demanding conditions and to protect both medical staff and patients on the move.
The ambulance is based on a modified Lada Niva Legend 4×4 Kub platform. Its core design centers on rapid field deployment, enabling medics to reach injured individuals in difficult terrains where standard ambulances struggle. The body features 40 millimeters of insulated walling and integrated protection made from Br3 ballistic steel, providing resilience against small arms fire of 5.45 caliber. This combination of insulation and armor aims to sustain operations in hostile or austere environments while maintaining the availability of essential medical services on site.
Beyond the armored shell, critical components such as the engine compartment, fuel tank, and battery have been reinforced to endure shocks and ballistic exposure. The medical module, mounted on the Niva Legend chassis, is isolated from the driver’s cabin to minimize risk to the operator should the vehicle come under fire or experience jolt forces. Inside, the module is designed to accommodate up to four people, offering a compact yet functional space for lifesaving equipment, basic monitoring, and direct patient care during transit.
