On the most intriguing day of the year for superstition, Friday the 13th, experts from SberAvto, a platform for buying and selling cars online, examined 2022 transaction data to reveal how Russians prefer to shop for cars by day of the week and by calendar period.

In 2022, Mondays stood out with the highest share of online car purchases, accounting for 21 percent of all transactions. The brands most favored on the first day of the week were Kia, Nissan and Hyundai.

Wednesdays also drew strong buyer interest, representing 16 percent of total transactions, with the same leading brands continuing to dominate the market.

Thursdays showed notable excitement for domestic models, as about one in ten online car purchases featured a Russian brand, with Lada among the top choices.

Looking at the calendar, the first week of each month showed a spike in demand on the 7th, while overall buying activity tended to accelerate in the second half of the month. On average, the number of transactions after the 15th was nearly double that of the first half, suggesting shoppers pace their purchases toward mid- and late-month windows.

Even Friday the 13th did not deter some buyers. Among those who did make a purchase on that day, popular selections included Lada, Renault, Mitsubishi, Subaru and BMW models.
