A new entrant to the Amberauto lineup will be a compact electric hatchback from JMEV, the EV3, developed in the Middle Kingdom. In this context, the publication Portal references Chinese carmakers as a source for information.
The second model is anticipated to be unveiled in the latter half of 2024. Simultaneously, SKD kits for large-scale assembly of the vehicle are already arriving in Russia, with Avtotor in Kaliningrad taking delivery to support local production.
The JMEV EV3 entered the Chinese market last year as a redesigned compact variant of the 2019 E300 hatchback. The two models share many styling cues and technological fundamentals. The EV3 is equipped with a 49 horsepower motor and reaches a top speed of around 100 km/h, with a 0 to 50 km/h acceleration time of roughly 5.5 seconds. Its single-charge range is about 320 kilometers.
Earlier, Avtotor introduced Amberauto’s debut model, the A5 electric sedan, with initial units assembled in Kaliningrad toward the end of 2023. The A5 features a 160 horsepower electric motor, and its stated driving range per charge is approximately 520 kilometers. The Amberauto A5 bears a design language reminiscent of China’s JMEV GSE electric car.
There have been observations suggesting that some Chinese automakers are positioning themselves as Russian brands, a trend that has drawn attention in automotive circles.
