Investigation details reveal alcohol influence in Blagoveshchensk minibus crash
An official medical assessment determined that the minibus driver responsible for the collision with pedestrians in Blagoveshchensk was under the influence of alcohol. The finding was released through the Telegram channel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Amur region and cited by law enforcement officials as part of the ongoing case.
The medical examination confirmed that the driver, identified as a male, had consumed alcohol at the time of the incident. Earlier reports described the driver as losing control of a 1965 foreign-made vehicle at high speed, striking pedestrians who were walking along the sidewalk. Among the victims was a woman, and two individuals aged 15 each sustained injuries, with six others also hurt in the event.
Blagoveshchensk mayor Oleg Imameev stated that six people required hospitalization following the crash. Their conditions were described as serious and very serious, underscoring the severity of the injuries sustained in the incident.
The crash occurred on June 14. A local Telegram channel, Blagoveshchensk No. One, posted video footage showing a burgundy minivan accelerating onto the sidewalk and colliding with a crowd of at least nine pedestrians, including children. The impact was described as a powerful blow that sent victims into the path of the vehicle in a matter of moments.
According to authorities, the driver previously involved in a separate incident owned the vehicle for about three weeks prior to the current crash. The investigation continues as officials collect evidence and interview witnesses to determine all contributing factors and ensure accountability for those affected by the tragedy. This update is provided by the Amur region’s law enforcement services via their official communications channel and associated public briefings, which relay verified findings and ongoing procedural steps for the case.
