The production facility sits in Ulyanovsk and was formerly owned by a Turkish company that grew into one of the world’s leading car seat manufacturers. Operations halted after Russia discontinued assembly of Renault models and the Lada XRAY.

Recently, the plant was acquired by TPV Rus, a Togliatti-based company, according to Volga-News. The report notes that the new owner does not plan to restart production at the same site. Nevertheless, all equipment will continue to function as intended, with relocation to sites in Syzran and Tolyatti planned for the near term.

The Ulyanovsk plant began operations in 2016. Its capacity was designed for about 150,000 car seat sets annually. TPV Rus explained to the news agency that the existing equipment will enable higher output, raising annual production from 300,000 to as much as 450,000 car seats.

At present, TPV Rus serves as the primary supplier of car seat kits for the Lada Granta and Lada Niva lines. The company’s representatives indicate that integrating the Ulyanovsk assets will unlock new technological capabilities, which will be directed toward its long-standing partner AVTOVAZ.
