A collision occurred in the Tashtagol district of the Kemerovo region involving a passenger car and two regular buses. Authorities reported that 14 people sustained injuries as a result of the incident, and the incident is currently under investigation by the Regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.
According to official updates, the crash took place on the Kuzedeevo-Mundybash-Tashtagol highway. The driver of a VAZ-2104, traveling at a speed considered unsafe for the prevailing weather conditions, crossed into the oncoming lane and collided with a Volgabas bus that was traveling in the opposite direction at the time.
In the aftermath, a second bus, a LiAZ unit, collided with the passenger car. The Main Directorate of the Kemerovo Region of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation confirmed that the LiAZ was proceeding in the same direction as the VAZ-2104 at the moment of impact, which contributed to the sequence of crashes.
Officials noted that there were 56 passengers aboard the two buses combined when the accident occurred. The three vehicle drivers and 11 additional passengers sustained injuries ranging from minor to more serious, requiring varying levels of medical attention.
All those injured were given medical care at the scene and during transport as needed. Given the nature of the injuries, most individuals were advised to undergo outpatient treatment rather than hospitalization, according to the briefing issued by the department’s representatives.
The press release also mentions that a criminal case has been opened under Part 1 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. Police are actively working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the crash and determine responsibility, including reviewing road conditions, weather factors, and driver behavior in the moments leading up to and following the collision.
In related developments, a separate incident had occurred earlier in the Pskov region, with four people reported as having suffered injuries in a different crash. Investigators emphasize the importance of assessing each incident on its own merits while maintaining public safety and timely information dissemination for travelers and communities affected by these events.
