Accident in Moscow Involving a GAZelle, a Taxi, and a Truck

Investigators describe a sequence that began when a GAZelle utility vehicle stopped in the fourth lane due to mechanical faults. The driver activated the distress signal but did not deploy an emergency stop sign. A second vehicle pulled up nearby to offer assistance, but its driver had no time to exit the cab before the situation escalated.

In the same moment, a taxi traveling behind in the same lane collided with the back of the malfunctioning truck at high speed. Surveillance footage indicates the taxi driver did not attempt to slow down or avert the impact.

Following the crash, vehicles were sent scattering by the force of the collision, spreading across the road and causing a four-lane blockage. Emergency responders arrived, and the truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene. At the time of impact, the man had stepped away from the vehicle to inspect it, moving toward the adjacent lane when he was struck by a passing car. The taxi caught fire immediately, though the driver and a passenger managed to escape without needing medical treatment.

Ongoing investigations examine the taxi driver’s condition at the moment of the crash and the factors that influenced his decision not to reduce speed as the incident unfolded.
