A resident of the Sverdlovsk region faced a perplexing and troubling situation when his driver’s license was revoked after traffic police inspectors were shown a photo-bearing certificate that did not reflect his personal data. The report on this incident came from the Baza Telegram channel.

According to the account, beginning in December 2021, Nikita Kurylev started receiving fines for traffic violations from locations he had never visited. He eventually paid those fines, believing there had been some mix-up. Then, in April 2023, he received a call from a district officer in Stavropol informing him that his license had been suspended for driving while intoxicated. The officer asked Kurylev to come in and presented a driver’s license photo that belonged to another person, along with Kurylev’s own information on the document.

Following this, Kurylev submitted a formal complaint to the police, asserting that someone had used a counterfeit license bearing his data, yet he was still required to pay another 30,000 rubles for a separate fine issued in Novosibirsk. In that incident, the driver had reportedly been caught driving while intoxicated again. The confusion surrounding the license appeared to compound the legal and financial pressures on Kurylev, as he faced the consequences of accusations tied to someone else’s identity.

With the help of a lawyer hired to navigate the complexities of the case, Kurylev pursued action through several channels. He filed complaints with the prosecutor’s office, sought recourse in court, and continued engagement with the police as the case progressed. A court session about the deprivation of rights, scheduled in Novosibirsk, was postponed, with the next proceeding set for October. The ongoing legal process underscored the difficulties that can arise when identity documents are misused or mismatched, creating a cascade of penalties that fall back on the legitimate holder of the data.

In a separate local development, life-size puppets had previously caused a disruption in Nizhny Tagil by staging a protest that resulted in the temporary closure of tram tracks along a local road. The village’s creative response to public transportation issues highlighted how unconventional actions can intersect with everyday civic life, drawing attention to transportation concerns and community dynamics in the region.
