New photos of the body of the car, which allegedly belong to a promising model of AVTOVAZ, the so-called Lada B-class, are circulating on social networks. Indeed, the fact that the Lada brand is getting a new model in the compact class was previously reported by representatives of AVTOVAZ. In addition, the model was not positioned as a replacement for Grant (not as a conditional Grant-2), but as a car that was half a step higher.
However, these prospects are now surrounded by great uncertainty. According to Avtograd News, which publishes new body shots, the internal XJO index project has been frozen indefinitely. However, this is obvious: for the Lada B-class, the Renault CMF-B platform was planned, the development of which in Russia raises great doubts to say the least.
On the one hand, according to the assurances of the leaders of AVTOVAZ, the auto giant has the right to use Renault’s licensed products. But to what extent can these rights be exercised, do they apply to the CMF-B platform (or only to the already mastered B0) and, most importantly, AVTOVAZ sees the point in mastering this now completely foreign architecture ?
The news of the first half of this year suggests that AVTOVAZ has long since said goodbye to Renault models on the B0 platform.
- Now the main bet is on its own products: for example, Vesta is planned to be moved from Izhevsk to Tolyatti and restarted in early 2023.
- “Behind the wheel” can be read in Odnoklassniki.
Before that, the Renault CMF-B platform was planned, the development of which in Russia is highly questionable to say the least.
