Chery abandoned the idea of starting production of its cars in the facilities of the UAZ plant, which is part of the Sollers Auto group. The problem, writes Vedomosti, is that UAZ has been on the EU sanctions list since the beginning of June and cooperation with the company could lead to sanctions for Chery.
But the Chinese automaker still has two ways to launch its cars in Russia. For example, a company can collaborate with another Sollers Auto company that is not on the sanction list. Say, in a factory in Vladivostok.
