The movement of heavy vehicles along the Georgian Military Road in the Republic of North Ossetia-Alanya was temporarily stopped due to adverse weather conditions. This has been reported telegram channel Regional department of the Ministry of Emergencies of the Russian Federation.
It appears from the statement that worsening weather was noted in neighboring Georgia.
“Regarding <…> “Due to the impossibility of ensuring safe passage and also taking into account the recommendations of the Georgian border police, the movement of heavy vehicles is prohibited in the Vladikavkaz-Lars section,” he said.
They announced that restrictions apply to the section of the road leaving the Russian Federation. They were introduced at 8:20 am (corresponding to Moscow time) and will be removed as soon as the special order is received.
Today, the Georgian Military Highway is the only land route connecting the Russian Federation and Georgia. The route passes through the Verkhniy Lars border checkpoint, connecting the cities of Tbilisi and Vladikavkaz.
17 October temporarily on the Crimean Bridge stopped movement of all types of road transport. Drivers were not informed about the reason for the restriction on passage.
