Deputies of the Parliament of Adygea (State Council – Khase) appealed to the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Vladimir Kolokoltsev with a request to increase the penalty for driving without license plates. In this regard reports TASS regarding the chairman of the republican parliament Vladimir Narozhny.

“Legislators demand to tighten administrative penalties against drivers who violate Russian traffic rules by hiding license plates to avoid administrative punishment,” Narozhny said.

The fine for violations provided for in Part 1 of Art. 12.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation is proposed to be increased from 500 rubles to 5 thousand rubles and to deprivation of rights for a period of three to six months instead of one year and three months according to Part 2.

So, the Moscow City Duma plans to increase the maximum fine for violators from 5 thousand to 15 thousand rubles. In St. Petersburg, sanctions will increase to 30 thousand rubles.

New fines are being introduced due to changes in federal legislation from September 1. Current fines of 1.5-5 thousand rubles for free travel on toll roads will remain only on federal highways. Regional roads will introduce their own system of penalties for violators of the rules. At the same time, the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation promised that the fines imposed by the regions will not exceed the penalties in force under federal legislation.
