The risk of skin cancer is higher in drivers who spend a lot of time driving and are exposed to sunlight. Dermatovenerologist and oncologist Evgeniy Khodakovsky told this to the correspondent of socialbites.ca.
“Today we know for sure that one of the main causes of skin cancer is ultraviolet radiation from the Sun. Among patients, especially often there are drivers who complain of tumors on the face and upper extremities (that is, on open areas of the skin) and are subsequently diagnosed with skin cancer of one type or another,” explained the doctor.
According to him, drivers who spend a lot of time behind the wheel often neglect sunscreen, and this primarily concerns men. You can protect your extremities from UV rays by wearing long sleeves, he added.
“Many people believe that the windshield protects them from ultraviolet radiation, but this is not the case. Therefore, I can definitely say that people who spend too much time in the sun and drivers who fall into this category have a higher risk of developing skin cancer than others. This is not the only reason, but it is the main reason,” the doctor concluded.
