Overweight and obese drivers have a higher risk of having a traffic accident and serious injury. Nutritionist and therapist Antonina Savolyuk told this to the correspondent of socialbites.ca.

“Overweight and obesity are common among drivers and drivers. They are included in the category of increased risk of developing arterial hypertension, heart failure, heart attack and stroke – that is, diseases caused by excess weight. For this reason, occupational pathologists often suspend professional drivers from work; “For example, a person who may have a hypertensive crisis at any moment cannot be sent to a plane,” he explained.

Against the background of obesity, the driver may also develop type II diabetes, which has a negative effect on the driver’s nervous system and reduces the reaction speed. Osteochondrosis, which develops due to excess weight, also worsens. Due to chronic lower back pain, the driver becomes less mobile, which can lead to a dangerous situation on the road.

“An obese driver is always at higher risk both on the road and in an accident,” Savolyuk summarized.
