The law provides that owners of vehicles registered in the Russian Federation by February 14, 2024 must re-register their vehicles in Latvia or take them out of the country. After this date, the participation of vehicles with Russian license plates in road traffic in Latvia will be possible only during transit. It will be possible to pass through Latvian territory only once.
In this case, the vehicle owner will have to convey information about the vehicle and travel time to the Road Safety Directorate through the information service. If the owner of a Russian-registered car continues to use it in Latvia after February 14, 2024, the car will be confiscated.
