By the end of 2023, the average price of popular crossovers ordered by Russians from abroad through parallel imports increased by 10 percent. Dmitry Rogov, founder of the RogovMobil company (specialist in turnkey delivery of cars from South Korea, Europe and Japan), talked about this in a conversation with socialbites.ca.

“The price of mid-size crossovers, which are in high demand among Russians, increased by approximately 8-10 percent in 2023. The final cost of the car was affected by inflation, the ruble exchange rate, changes in railway transport tariffs and logistics. That year, buyers mostly chose the Hyundai Tucson, Hyundai Santa Fe, Kia Sportage, Volkswagen Tiguan, Audi Q3 and BMW X3. These are cars produced in 2018-2020 with minimum mileage. The cost of such cars ranges from 2.5 million rubles to 4 million rubles,” said the auto expert.

According to Rogov, there were many prerequisites for a serious increase in car prices on the market in 2023, including a lack of competition, but this did not happen. This was due to the fact that a large influx of cars flowed from China to Russia, which slowed down the increase in prices.

“The Chinese have reduced car prices. Everyone brought cars from this country to Russia – both gray dealers and official ones. The result was a healthy spontaneous market. “Previously, 5-7 large dealers could influence this, now everything has changed,” explained the expert.
