December 2023 was the record month of the last two years in terms of new car sales in Russia, reports analytical agency “Avtostat”.
In December, Russians bought 119.5 thousand new passenger cars; This is 2.1 times more than the same month in 2022. Before that, the monthly sales result was higher in December 2021, when 133.6 thousand new passenger cars were sold in Russia.
Sales of new passenger cars in Russia have exceeded 100 thousand units per month since August 2023. According to Autostat and PPK JSC, approximately 1.06 million new passenger cars were sold in Russia by the end of 2023. More than 30 percent of them are from the domestic Lada brand.
The leader among foreign brands is Chinese Chery, which sold 118.95 thousand cars during the year. This is followed by Haval, Geely, Changan, Exeed and Omoda.
