AvtoVAZ eliminated the increased oil consumption in the 1.8-liter engine for Lada cars. In this respect video Grigory Lychev, head of the power unit design department of AvtoVAZ JSC, spoke on the Official Lada Club YouTube channel.
“A three-component oil scraper ring was used, which showed the highest efficiency. We also changed the design of the valve guide bushing, oil seal and sealing lip. Changes have also occurred in the engine manufacturing process: additional control has been introduced on the alignment of the guide and the installation of oil seals,” said Lychev.
According to the expert, all this made it possible to eliminate the increased oil consumption in the 1.8 engine, which was confirmed by tests. At the same time, AvtoVAZ managed to replace all engine components.
Due to numerous changes in engine design given its name is 1.8 Evo. The power of the unit is 122 hp. In December, AvtoVAZ will release 25 Lada Vesta cars with a 1.8 engine and shifter for factory needs, and in January it will begin mass production of units. The production of cars with 1.8 engines and 6-speed manual transmission is planned for the end of 2024.
