On November 2, the Latvian Seimas adopted amendments to the law “Communication on the Road” in its final reading, ensuring that cars registered in Russia are banned from being in Latvia. In this respect reports Latvian edition of Delfi.

The law stipulates that by February 14, 2024, owners of vehicles registered in Russia must re-register their vehicles in Latvia or take them out of the country. After this date, the participation of vehicles with Russian license plates in road traffic in Latvia will be possible only during transit. In this case, the vehicle owner will have to convey information about the vehicle and travel time to the Road Safety Directorate through the information service. If the owner of a Russian-registered car continues to use it in Latvia after February 14, 2024, the car will be confiscated.
