The State Duma decided to indefinitely postpone the consideration of the bill on the recognition of national driver’s licenses of Armenian citizens when carrying out commercial and business activities. In this respect reported On the Duma’s website.
The first reading of the bill submitted by the government was accepted in June 2022. Chairman of the Committee on the Development of Transport and Transport Infrastructure Evgeny Moskvichev made a proposal to suspend the evaluation. He pointed out that such an initiative no longer coincides with Russia’s interests.
According to State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, the bill on the recognition of national driver’s licenses envisages granting additional privileges to Armenia, but the republic’s authorities have not taken any steps to consolidate the status of the Russian language. He said that on this basis the Duma decides on the possibility of exercising the national rights of other countries on the territory of the Russian Federation.
“We made such decisions regarding Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, because in them the Russian language is constitutionally sacred. As for Armenia, we see this: the Russian language has no status, the latest decisions are definitely not aimed at improving relations in this area,” Volodin said.
Previously in Armenia statedThat they did not reject Russia’s negotiating platform.
