In Russia, scammers have developed a new scheme to deceive drivers. In this respect report Izvestia with reference to Kaspersky Lab.

It was noted that drivers began to receive letters offering to buy fuel cards in exchange for profit. The message states that the driver can give it at a 50% discount. Thus, it will be possible to refuel for 10,000 rubles by purchasing a fuel card for 5,000 rubles. To be convincing, the scammers refer to a specific regulation on fuel compensation and also show the contact details of an expert who can be contacted in case of questions.

The person who agrees to resort to such a service is advised to follow the link where the source of the fraud is actually hidden. After the victim enters their bank card information and purchases the service, the attackers disappear with the money and the person receives nothing.

According to Kaspersky Lab, cybersecurity experts recorded about 24,000 emails of this type in eight days. Some motorists, believing such an act, transferred money to scammers.
