In the latest industry overview, the performance of Chinese passenger car brands was summarized. The combined sales of the ten largest Chinese automakers reached about 22.8 million units, underscoring the size and momentum of the market. The period highlighted a mix of electric and conventional models that expanded the reach of these brands across many segments and price points.
Leading the pack was BYD, delivering roughly 3.7 million units. Geely followed with about 1.77 million units, while FAW-Volkswagen secured third place with around 1.6 million vehicles sold.
The top ten also included Changan at 1.36 million, Chery at 1.35 million, SAIC-Volkswagen at 1.2 million, and SAIC-GM-Wuling with around 824 thousand. FAW-Toyota posted about 798 thousand, with GAC-Toyota close behind at 770 thousand and Tesla China around 657 thousand.
Beyond the headliners, the mix reflects a combination of joint ventures, domestic brands, and partnerships that shape pricing, warranties, and aftersales. The lineup shows strong demand across SUV and crossover segments as well as compact and mid-size sedans, with a steady shift toward electrified options in several price tiers.
In another regional market narrative, the Jolion from Haval was forecast to emerge as a leading crossover in Russia by year-end, with sales rising about 1.5 times to roughly 8.8 thousand units in the period. This trend highlighted the appeal of compact crossovers in price-sensitive markets.
Chery followed with the Tiggo 7 Pro Max moving about 64.8 thousand units in the year, placing it high among crossovers. The Tiggo 4 Pro registered around 52.7 thousand, while the Lada Niva Travel logged about 50 thousand. Geely Monjaro appeared in the top five with sales near 47.8 thousand, underscoring the breadth of options in this segment.
Market observers noted that dealer discounts and promotional activity appeared to influence purchase timing and model mix as the year concluded. The impact of pricing maneuvers on consumer decisions underscores how market dynamics interact with model availability and financing terms.
