A 67-year-old school bus driver in Karelia was detained and charged with child abuse based on information released through the Telegram channel operated by the Regional Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.

According to the committee, the investigation established that the man had been employed as a school bus driver at a local educational institution in Chalna village and had direct contact with students on school routes. From 2021 for a period of two years, he allegedly invited boys aged 10 to 13 to his bathhouse under the pretense of watching films, where he served alcoholic beverages that were offered to them. These details were disclosed by investigators and corroborated by witness accounts and routine time logs examined during the inquiry.

The subsequent actions described by the investigators included the man taking advantage of the minors’ vulnerability to commit sexual offenses. The investigation reportedly uncovered more than 30 video files depicting the alleged offenses, and relatives of the victims filed a criminal complaint with law enforcement authorities. The detention of the driver followed, and a medical examination conducted as part of the case reportedly found no evidence of a mental illness.
