We strongly recommend that you do not install such anti-theft devices. But the incident turned out to be very funny. A New Orleans resident whose pickup truck has been hijacked multiple times in the past (six times in the past eight weeks) decided to leave a little surprise for thieves in the cab — in the form of a tranquilizer grenade.
He hid it in a storage compartment on the center console, an opening that gave the thief a flash of light in the face and a deafening explosion in a confined space.
Surveillance footage shows the thief climbing up to his waist through a broken pick-up window, digging there, and then an explosion. The thief immediately stepped out of the window opening and climbed into the white sedan that was waiting for him.
The grenade, of course, did not stop the pickup from breaking the window. The grenade probably also damaged the interior of the car. Incidentally, the New Orleans Police Department recently announced that the number of car thefts has recently increased by 28%.
