Russian companies encountered an increase in the number of false letters sent by attackers on behalf of the Federal Security Service (FSB) to scare and open malicious investments. This is stated in the press release of the Garda Group of Companies received by Gazeta.ru.
According to Viktor Ievlev, President of the Garden Group of Companies Group Information Security Department, fraudsters use convincing formulations, allegedly conducting an alleged inspection or investigation.
Such letters are for both corporate and personal addresses of employees and create the appearance of an official objection. Investments may include malicious programs that allow fraudsters to remotely access the system, steal data, load another malware uploading or espion for actions on the device.
Experts suggest to ignore such letters and not to open investment files. Official requests from government institutions are sent only to corporate addresses and published as envisaged.
In case of interaction with suspicious correspondence, it is recommended that you quickly inform the company’s information security service and observe the measures excluding data reconciliation.
