During the hearing of the US Department of Justice, the company representatives, who required Google to sell the Chrome browser, expressed confidence that such a part was impossible without a critical loss of function. The position of the company was expressed in court by Paris Tabriz, General Manager of Chrome. About it reports Bloomberg Agency.
According to Google representatives, the existing chrome level is the result of a long -term interaction between the browser team and other company units. It has been reported that some basic functions, such as a safe imaging or notification mode of password hacking, are based on the general Google infrastructure that goes beyond the frame of the browser unit. Google believes that the restructuring of such a “mutual dependence”, except for the company’s structure, will be extremely complex or impossible.
The chrome browser is based on an open source project chrome. This project was initiated by Google, but the meta (Russian pro -extremist and prohibited) platforms, including Microsoft and Linux Foundation, are also participating in the development of other companies.
At the same time, the US Department of Justice, a Professor of Harvard University, James Micens, presented an opposite perspective. He argued that the ownership of another company’s chromium is technically possible and would not lead to a significant violation of his work. According to him, the alienation of the browser is possible without critical results for functionality. Previously, Micens has worked as an expert in the antimonyopol process of epic games against Google.
Company representatives, who crowned the statement that Google will continue to actively participate in Chromium without Chrome, emphasized the dominant contributions to the project. According to them, since 2015, Google has introduced more than 90% of the code in Chromium, invested hundreds of millions of dollars and used approximately 1000 experts of its unit. The contribution of other companies is currently insignificant.
