Michael Matthew, who lives in Minnesota, filed a lawsuit against Apple and demanded compensation for at least $ 5 million damage due to rejecting the 2 TB loss data in ICLUD, which disappeared after the theft of the company’s iPhone. About it reports Washington Post (WP).
The incident occurred in Scottsale, Arizona: iPhone’s theft, photos, music, tax refunds and work documents, including loss of access to important files. To restore the account, it was impossible to restore data due to the function of advanced data protection (ADP) and relevant rescue switch-with unique 28-digit switch.
Apple recommends you to hide in a safe place, but in case of loss or changes in the recovery switch, access to data, as in Matthew, becomes impossible.
According to the plaintiff, the attacker may use the recovery switch to prevent access to ICLUD, to change the Apple ID password, and to enable a new recovery switch. The company refuses to provide assistance in this case, as the ADP function is encrypted data and excludes the possibility of recovery through Apple servers.
Lawyer Matthews insists that Apple rejects it because the data belongs to the customer, not the company, it is unacceptable.
